The International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) and International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) offer a number of scholarships and awards:
The ILAE and IBE Ambassador for Epilepsy Award
The Ambassador for Epilepsy Awards are presented by the ILAE and IBE every two years at the time of the International Epilepsy Congress. A maximum of 12 Awards are presented at any one time. Awards recognise outstanding personal contributions to activities that advance the cause of epilepsy. These contributions and activities should either have been performed at an international level or have an international impact or significance. The Awards reflect international peer recognition and are given for the lifetime of the recipient.
Details about the nomination procedure and eligibility criteria are available on the Ambassador for Epilepsy Award page on the IBE website. Any questions about this award should be directed to the IBE headquarters.
ESA members who have received this award are listed in the Past Recipients section.
The IBE Volunteer Award
The IBE recognises the efforts of volunteers working with IBE member associations at local and national levels with the IBE Volunteer Award.
The purpose of the Award is to highlight the dedication and selflessness of those who work without financial reward to improve the quality of life for people with epilepsy. The award is presented every two years to an individual who has carried out outstanding activities, on a voluntary basis, which have made a difference at national level.
Details about the nomination procedure and eligibility criteria are available on the Volunteer Award page on the IBE website. Any questions about this award should be directed to the IBE headquarters.
The IBE Lifetime Achievement Award
The IBE Lifetime Achievement Award is given to persons with a long internationally-acclaimed record of exemplary work relating to epilepsy. Only when an individual is deemed to adequately reflect the criteria required for consideration will this award be presented.
Details about the nomination procedure and eligibility criteria are available on the Lifetime Achievement Award page on the IBE website. Any questions about this award should be directed to the IBE headquarters.
